Larry Bill and steel guitar

Post by Daniel Morris »

So, many of you probably saw this, in which Larry Bill says, "If you ain't got no steel player in your band, you're lucky".

Well, I didn't realize it, but apparently Larry had to eat his words. His own son plays some lap steel with Larry. Hot pickin' that's fer shur:

I laughed out loud that was great! When Bobby hits a clunker at 2:25 and Larry goes "Shhh, Shhh"
Steel Guitar Rag validates this as a classic. ;) 8) Cant do that on a Plastic Guitar.

Believe it or not, it's not the WORST Steel Guitar Rag I've ever heard! I've heard versions that took me much longer to recognize.

I have a feeling these guys can really play. Is there any Youtube of them playing seriously? Or do you think that's not possible?

Larry Bill and his boys VIDEO #2 proves they can play if you watch the whole video. Does anyone know who this really is and if there's some Youtube of them playing seriously?

I kinda figured Larry n the boys could actually play.
Just like Lester "Roadhog" Moran and his Cadillac Cowboys (aka the Statler Bros., plus some Nashville pickers), once you spend years learning to play things well, it's really tough to convincingly play like real amateurs. Kudos, Larry.

I knew it. You just can't screw things up like that and maintain the recognizablity of the song without knowin how to actually play pretty good. (my high school english teacher would love that sentence).
