Rick is the coolest cat I know... They should do a documentary about him and his parents. His dad was a vaudevillian magician and Rick worked the levitation machine behind the curtain while his mom was one of the heaviest female jazz piano players of her time.. It's no surprise that Rick has horn sections going off in his head at all times. Please check out his mom at 90....unbelievable!!.. Love you Rick!

Silly question from somebody new to the SG community: why doesn't an incredible player such as Rick get invited to play at the ISGC? Or has he been invited and it didn't pan out?

I can't speak for Scotty, but we have invited Rick every year to play the Jazz Room at ISGC and are hoping that one of these years, he'll say 'Yes'!

In reply to Jim's response to me- maybe he needs a groundswell of support and desire to get him on the stage. Whatever party he's nominated for, I'll vote for. But I'm not surprised that he's been asked before. Thanks, Jim.

First - Rick is one of the nicest human beings on Earth!

Second - I used to go over to his house for lessons & he'd be holding a conversation while I set up and at the same time play the most mind bending steel ever heard - imagine chord parts like McCoy Tyner & single note lines like John Coltrane. Oh, and throw in some Alan Holdsworth quartal harmony too. And at the same time he is chatting with me about going surfing! Beyond inspiring!

It should be a Federal crime that he does not get the recognition he is due. He should have endorsements by major steel builders and should be playing at ALL the steel shows.

Rick - PLEASE!!!!!! Start playing the shows - I promise I will go if you are playing!
