Rick Schmidt videos added at SteelGuitarJazz.com
I'm delighted that Rick Schmidt has finally made some videos available on YouTube. These two were from last year's Southwestern Steel Guitar Association show in Phoenix where I had the pleasure of hearing Rick perform live. A great jazz player. Come on by www.steelguitarjazz.com an look for Rick's videos in the 'More Great Videos' section of the website.
Enjoy!

'Bout time.
Rick's approach to improvisation is akin to that of an old bebopper: - play through ALL of the changes such that they're recognizable and don't gloss over things in favor of those notes that simply come to hand. It's the mark of an accomplished jazz player.
Did I say that I'm his #1 fan?

Jim
I'm sorry haven't mentioned this before - your site is a regular stop of mine, and I've grown a lot just listening to all the music and attempting to cop stuff from what I've heard. It is a FANTASTIC resource for steelers whose interest lies in jazz music, and you've made great choices in the material you've presented. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
And you kick ass.
