How to get the best audio to digital camera

I am wanting to shoot some PSG videos. Currently my plan is to run my tracks & guitar thru the Mackie ProFX8 console, come out of the console via its USB port to the USB port on the video camera. Haven't purchased the console yet tho. Anyone have a better plan? What is the setup some of the other players are using?

Johan, thanks for the link. That does look like a very good unit. I'm actually planning to record direct instead of using microphones. I think the benefits are a more controlled signal as well as being able to mix the audio before it is recorded into the video mix. I was just wondering how others that do videos handle the audio signal.

Take a look at the Panasonic GH-1, awesome plug and play hi def video, with stereo recording onboard. Sony has a new one also--HX9V

Hi Paul,
Here's a quick video I did for my lap steel construction guide. It's done by combining my digital camera video file with audio recorded on my computer. It's pretty easy to do and I used the Windows movie maker program that is a built-in part of XP.
