A Million Moons Over Hawaii

Post by Dave Stewart »

This is a pretty Hawaiian song, which you can watch and hear me perform here...

"A MILLION MOONS OVER HAWAII"

Here's my MP3 BIAB backing track, played once through...

And here's another MP3 track of the same BIAB song played twice through...

MP3 BACKING TRACK, PLAYED TWICE THROUGH

Here's the source file for BIAB, but you'll need BIAB version 2010.5 or higher to open it, as I'm using some REAL instruments in the track. I realize that most people don't have the latest version of BIAB, which is why I always include an MP3 version for everyone.

Here's the .MGU source file...

BIAB SOURCE FILE

Individual C6th tablature is available from Scotty's Music in St. Louis. In fact, Scotty has hundreds of tabbed out songs by Jerry Byrd. They're not all for beginners, as Jerry Byrd himself once told me. Some are more difficult than others. They are advanced tabs and great stuff indeed to learn.

I just enter the chords into BIAB from Jerry's tabs. This is an easy way to make songs for those of you who don't know too much about chord theory. Jerry's tablature is boxed off into measures, which correspond to the boxes in BIAB. You just follow the boxes and enter the chords. Add an intro and an ending and you're making music.

I'm using the C6th tuning for this song with a C# on the bottom string. I'm playing a Jerry Byrd 24 1/2" longscale Frypan through a Roland MicroCube battery-powered amp, which has great tone for Hawaiian steel guitar IMHO.

I'm pretty much following Jerry's tabs on this song, so you can hear how it's tabbed. It's in the key of G.

Here's a little something extra to brighten your day, from my heart...

HARBOR LIGHTS

I also am using an Ernie Ball Volume Pedal on the ground. Enjoy!

Kindest regards and God bless,
David

Dave ,your site I have on the second place after the steel forum. Thanks for the sea of information on the steel guitar. But on the forum I have no one answered, who plays the track Aloha Oe from the CD "ALL THE BEST FROM HAWAII".Can you know that this album is posted on your website?[img]
