It sounds a little like Red Foley singing and a lot like Bud Isaacs playing steel.

Red for sure. Not sure of the rest of it.

I'd guess a transcription rather than a Decca take.

Maybe Bud, Bob Moore, and Grady on his doubleneck Bigsby? Bud sounding very West-coast-ish, which he could do at times.

Great version of a fine song. Foley is highly under-rated and nearly forgotten today.

One version of Red Foley's Ozark Jubilee Band in the '50s had Bud Isaacs - steel, Grady Martin - guitar, Bob Moore - Bass, Tommy Jackson - fiddle,....... To me the steel player on this recording sounds a lot like the steel player on Chet Atkins' album of the '50s, 'Session with Chet' and that steeler was Bud Isaacs.

Wow, lots of answers on this one!

It is Red Foley with the Crossroads Boys and Bud Isaacs on steel, taken from transcriptions. Grady Martin, Tommy Jackson, Bob Moore, Jimmy Selph and Bud Isaacs made up a great band!

By the late 50's Bud had already developed his Pedal Steel style. I heard none of this in this clip. You could really hear Noel Boggs influence in his playing. Noel influenced so many of us old timers, including myself, way back when.
