RIP James "Deacon Anderson"
I received this sad email today about the passing of Deacon Anderson, a great Western Swing lap steeler and the composer of the tune Rag Mop.
Hi, my name is Kylynn, I'm James Deacon Andersons great grandaughter, and i saw you were discussing my grandfather on the steel guitar forum. all the words truly warmed my heart. due to a fall causing a head injury, my grandfather slipped into a coma, and yesterday, april 30th, at 2:20 am, my grandfather passed away. he was playing right up to the end and actually made one final recording. We would greatly appreciate it if you could help spread the word of his passing through the musical community. He honestly was an amazing artist, father, uncle and grandfather. he will be truly missed.

Deacon Anderson
Deacon was a brother-in-law of my first steel guitar teacher. Over the last 60 plus years I spent many hours listening to him and Cliff Bruner telling stories about their younger days playing around southeast Texas along with a cousin of mine; Moon Mulican. RIP old friend
