George Shearing
Though not a steel guitarist, he was a legend in jazz. Blind from birth but that never stopped him !
A great loss.

One of my all time favorite songs is " Bye Bye Blues", a song I first learned back in the 70's. I picked up a Herb Remington version of it a while back and played it again srveral times this week.
What a musical genius he was. He practically invented the "block chord " style of playing. We are always losing the great ones and what we get to replace them are not filling the void.

An earlier thread started about Mr. Shearing, you possibly missed it because it was in the "Music" and not the "Gone Home" section:

George Shearing was to piano playing as Curly Chalker was to steel. About three licks into a song, you knew who was playing. He was my favorite, too!!! "Little" Buddy.
