Ronnie passed on Monday, the 3rd. of Jan. He was one of the first steel players I was ever around when he played with Bob and Claude Fuel at the Grand Ole Uproar in the big town of Big Point, Ms. That was in the late 70's I believe. Ronnie attended several shows in Gulfport but never played. He was happy to just watch. You would never know he played if you didnt know him. Im sure many around Gulfport and Mobile knew him.

Ron was a fine person,,he and I shared the same love for Western Swing music,,,i use to visit him and we would spend the whole time talking about Hank Thompson and The Brazos Valley Boys,,and he would show me some new licks he had learned on the Shobud D10,,we use to get together about twice a month at another friends place and play for several hours,, we went to a lot of steel shows together,,my most memoriable one was the trip to McGee Miss. with some other friends,,Ron Played my type of steel,he knew most of Bob Whites and PeeWee Whitewings licks on Hanks songs..
