I was wondering who is the steel player on this recording and what type of steel is being played? Nice lead break at 1m 32s....! Have a listen.

TD: I have owned almost every major brand of pedal steel at one time or the other, and there are things to like about all of them. My current favorite is a 2001 Carter double-neck, with 8 pedals and 5 knee levers. I have Bill Lawrence XR-16 pickups in this guitar. It records really well and stays in tune.

Hi

Well my guess would have been a Rains, Rittenbury, or Justice steel. So does anyone know for sure that it was the Carter he likes used on this particular recording?

I couldn't listen the the source interview on my iPad.

Hey guys thanks for the nice comments. It is in fact the Carter that Bob refers to in that interview. It is also the one in my avatar...

Now that folks, is how real country music is supposed to sound. No screaming distorted lead guitar, great steel and is featured up front, good country voice and a well written country song. A pure delight all around.

Really nice work, as always. Tommy's still a pedal steel hero to me.
