When I have my laptop plugged in to the AC I get a terrible buzz though my amp. Does not happen on battery power. Any suggestions?

I had the same thing happen with my laptop when I was using the AC adaptor and it went away when I used battery power, so I tried a 3/2 adaptor on the plug of the AC adaptor and it fixed it for me.

If you are getting the buzz through an externally connected amp, and it's not a bad interconnecting cord, it could be the old "Ground Loop" hum problem. Using a ground lift on one device will usually get rid of it, but I wouldn't use the ground lift device on the PC if it's not always connected to the grounded amp.

But, if could also be the cable connecting the audio from the PC to the Amp. Use a shielded "audio" cable and not an unshielded "speaker or headhphone" cable.

Another possibility is the proximity of the laptop to the amp. All PC's emit some RFI and the reason PC monitors and PC speakers are shielded. A guitar amp is not "shielded".
