Bobby Hebb dead at 72

Post by robert kramer »

Bobby Hebb is dead in Nashville at 72. Bobby, a Nashville native, wrote and performed the international hit: "Sunny" and also wrote "Natural Man" for Lou Rawls. In the 50's, Bobby appeared on the Opry playing spoons and dancing as a member of Roy Acuff's Smokey Mountain Boys. He was an opening act on the Beatles 1966 US tour. About 4-5 years ago Bobby worked an Opry spot singing "Sunny" and "Satisfied Mind."

"Sunny" was a great pop song and really represents that era of music for me. Bobby Hebb made the world a better place while he was here.

What Mike said...

I think Doug Jernigan did a real nice cut of Sunny on one of his albums, using a fake Leslie sound.
