Sweet Emmylou
Hope you don't mind me putting this one up here.
It's Emmylou, and the Hot Band. There's not a PSG solo, but there's definitely a PSG in the band, playing very tastefully in the backround. The video is ridiculously out of sync, but the music just tears my heart out so much, I wanted to share it.
The other reason I wanted to post this beautiful performance, is just to say, "What the hell happened to REAL country music", like, IMHO, this??
When I try, (which lasts about 15 seconds), to listen to country music starion here in LA, it's so much Rock & Roll style garbage that they're playing, it's horrible. Not that I didn't grow up on good 60's Rock & Roll, and still love that, but how can they call themselves "country", what they're doing now, compared to Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, etc., etc. etc. Vince Gill is the only current artist that I've found so far, that I really like.

Hope you enjoy; Reed

I just happen to agree with you Reed..What did happen to real country music ?
Spoke to a friend of mine in Nashville a couple of weeks ago..he recons that there is no steel or fiddle in the New county coming out of there...and that work is drying up.
Another steel player friend of mine was on the road with Emmylou and Gram Parsons...last time I saw him I asked him if Emmylou was as nice as she seems......his answer was"Absolutely!!!!!..one time she even asked me would I like to go do a TV interview with her !!".......How nice is that !!

Back in the 80's I would watch the Grand Ole Opry live on Saturday nights. Justin Tubb sang a song "What's Wrong With The Way That We're Doing It Now". Man has times changed. You sure could not sing that song today. I absolutely cannot stand todays country. What I hear that I like, I hear on the internet or YouTube. The sad part is that steel players are losing out on recording. I have much respect for the steel players in Nashville and other music venues that record todays so called country. They are so versatile but I would venture to say they do not enjoy it either. I worked with an elderly gentleman several years go and he used one word to describe it, "Humbug".

I used to do the booking for most of the bands I was in, 70's-early 90's. I was trying to get in a new club, selling a country standards, country rock format. I knew the owner for many years, but he said, "you know me Bill, I like both kinds of music, country and western, I'll give you boys a shot, but if there's not enough country in that rock, I can't use you." We of course, played the crowd, and worked there many times.
