Does anybody else get INVALID FILE messages on the Zoom H-2?

Post by George Kimery »

I love my H-2 and I record every single gig. About one third of the time, when I try to play back, I just get the dreaded Invalid File message. I cannot get this to happen at home when testing, only at our gigs. I have tried new SD cards, both Sandisk and PNY, the only two brands I can find locally. I have tried different 2 GB cards, 4 GB cards, and 8 GB cards. I have tried recording into a clean folder that has nothing in it. All the levels and recording lights are working normal, so I think I am recording when I am not. I really suspect it is the SD cards. I got a list of Zoom approved cards off the internet, but can't find the brands and type of cards that they recommend. Just wondering if anybody else has this problem and if they have found the solution.

I also use the H2 but have not had any of the problems you describe. I use a generic 4 gig card.

I copied the original Zoom data file from the original factory card over to the 4 gig card rather than formatting the card and haven't had any problems at all over the last 6-8 months of using it.
