I can't think of any adjectives that Buddy hasn't heard before. I am in awe of the man and his music and hopefully someday I'll get to shake his hand. Thanks Buddy, for everything.

Thanks Peter for posting the videos. I first saw Buddy at the ISGC in 1981 and was left spellbound. I have been a Buddy Emmons fan ever since. What brand of guitar was he playing?

Here's another new one on YouTube. "Did It Rain" by Barbara Fairchild, with Buddy Emmons. Just audio.

He has an abundance of everything needed to play this instrument and probably any other he chooses to play but what he has most of is pure taste.
Over the years I can't think of one note he's played I didn't like.
I hope one year soon I might get over to a convention to see him play live.

If he's playing an MCI (which it looks like), wouldn't it have to be later, like '85 or '86?

Here's one of Buddy playing in England in 1981. He's playing I think, his SKH.

You're probably right. I was just going by what the YouTube poster said. And how come my EMCI doesn't sound like his? Or my P/P's?

Peter: I've been listening to the Barbara Fairchild version of Did It Rain and the one you posted back in early June by Don Everly. Both feature Buddy Emmons on steel but what a world of difference !! :whoa: :whoa:

For all intents and purposes, he is playing the same positions and chimes but on the Everly cut, he is like a crystal bell chiming out in the "Early morning rain..."!! You can feel the words in his notes !

Still looking for a copy of Sunset Towers...

Regards, Paul
