Buddy's Boogie

Post by Mike Neer »

I had fun recording one of my favorite steel guitar tunes tonight. This is where my shortcomings as bassist and suitcase drummer are most evident.

Most of you probably know this tour-de-force already, but Buddy's Boogie is one of the earliest influences on me taking up steel guitar--in fact, years ago, I posted a request to help identify the tune, as I only had an old cassette copy of it.

Clinesmith lap steel, Fender Telecaster, Michael Dunn Rhythm Futur guitar, Kay upright bass, American Tourister suitcase drums.

Buddy's Boogie

I appreciate your listening and your feedback. I'm on a roll because I've got some good stuff in the works and this is the fun in between. :D

Jon, my setup is a Shure SM57 into a Focusrite Platinum Trax Master pre into an Echo Gina interface into a Windows PC running Reaper. That's it--very simple. All tracks were recorded with that mic. The amp is a Fender Princeton Reverb. The bass and rhythm guitar are both acoustic.
