LARRY LEE KITCHEN, 72, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009, in Jackson, Tenn. Born Sept. 2, 1936, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Ray and Violet Kitchen. He retired from Porter Cable, Jackson; was a member of Who's Who in Engineering and the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association (HSGA); and was listed in the Worldwide Steel Guitarist Directory. His passions over the years were his music, meteorology, fishing, electronics, and leather tooling. Surviving are his children, Lora Walters of Reagan, Tenn., Jill Kitchen of Fort Wayne, Judi Tanuz of Santa Fe, Texas, Suzette Hedley of Hamilton, Mass., Jim Kitchen of Fort Wayne, and John Kitchen of Byron, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Rex Kitchen of Fort Wayne, David Kitchen of Warsaw and Bob Kitchen of Fort Wayne; and sisters, Colleen Troxel of Fort Wayne, Diane Wroblewski of Huntington and Cherie Rumple of The Villages, Fla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, in 1990; son, Larry Jr.; and brother, Richard Kitchen. A family viewing and a memorial service were held in Jackson. Arrangements by George Smith North Funeral Home. Interment in Ridgecrest Cemetery, Jackson, Tenn.
