Paul Harvey was the man who inadvertently started the rumor that Charles Manson is a steel player. Harvey mentioned in one of his broadcasts that Manson learned to play the guitar in prison from fellow prisoner Alvin Carpis. He meant to say "steel string guitar" but left out the word "string."

Scotty has a tape of the broadcast.

Paul worked at radio station KVOO in Tulsa when it was on 1170. He will truly be missed. I used to love listening to his broadcasts every. It seemed like he never forgot where he came from. He never forgot what the important things in life were also. May God Bless and comfort his family at their time of need.
He will be missed, We love you Paul!!!!! Tommy

I think everyone knows who Paul Harvey was. I loved his voice. I think he was one of the few that you could believe what he said. I'm sure he will be missed.

Hope this does not offend, but I can't think of Paul Harvey without recalling his announcement of the death of Keith Whitley: "Country singer Keith Whitley was found dead at his home today......drunk.....Times five.

Russ, PH has been my best radio friend since the early 60s and I had dreaded the day that Feb. 28, 2009 brought us. I knew when his Angel passed away last May, his world would cease to spin and we watched the end come painfully slow since then. Thanks for the Good Bye to the greatest journalist in my lifetime.

The most memorable radio voice to come along in my lifetime !
Got turned on to his voice by my sweet gramma when I was just a kid. A big, unfillable void.
