PSGA Annual Convention highlights

Post by HowardR »

Well,Saturday was a supper day here in Norwalk. The Saturday line up was as such;
Ed Bierly who played some nice,clean,fluent
selections on his 12 string keyles Whitney.
Bob Taillefer who played some nice jazzy C6 blues on his 68' Sho~Bud crossover (C6 neck keyless),Al Brisco on Carter D10 playing a country set which also involed some Irish reels and jigs. He also has a very warm stage presence. Tom Reilly on Dobro which I will post in No Peddlers. John DeMille with his wife,Darlene DeMaille and Bragg Hollow. It was a real treat to have vocal set as John played his S10 Rusler.Well,what can I say about Doug Jernigan? You could fire a machine gun and and still hear his picking way ahead. Herb Remmington,a living legend played beautifully.A cross between non - pedal and pedal is his smooth transitional style. Of course,he played a Remmington. Herby Wallace. Herby is a fun and serious entertainer. He makes you laugh and then picks jazz,country/western,swing,ballards..
I was not really familiar with his playing before but he has become a favorite.Mullen D10.
Saturday evening....super jam.....
Jernigan...Wright....Wallace. this was the tour de force.They played everything,and showed such expertise on this most difficult instrument,makng it seem effortless on their part. Joe Wright has some eclectic style on Sierra U12. I was surprised on one tune,Jonny B. Good. Of course this was right up Joe Wright's ally,but Herby Wallace threw on some distortion and really ROCKED!. Maybe he'll land a gig with Limp Biscuit.
One of the great things about this show is the video screen You can watch all of the right and left hand action on a large screen. Way to go PSGA! Anyhow it's Sunday, they're throwing me out of my hotel room here,and I'm not quite finished steeling the towels (that's the only "steeling" I'll be doing here!).
