I did a count and I am now up to over 1,100 gospel tabs for the E9th pedal tuning.
A lot of the churches have gone to primarily contemporary music for their worship services.
Please be advised that my tabs are for the good old hymns and gospel songs you sang and enjoyed in your youth. I have nothing against the new contemporary music but the old gospel songs are a 3 minute sermon unto themselves. The Holy Spirit really speaks through these songs.
If you would like me to e-mail you a list, just let me know.
I would like to get $2.50 for a tab, plus postage.
Thanks and keep looking up!

Brother Erv, I'm with you all the way. Contemporary Christian has become the predominant style in most churches here in Texas too. Like you, I have nothing against it; in fact there are many contemporary songs that I really like, and think they lend themselves very well to pedal steel (and fiddle, which I played a LOT longer than PSG). I just worry a little that the good old traditional stuff that I love may eventually fade away completely.
After playing honky tonk country for 25 years, I quit to play with a country gospel group in church - two services every Sunday for six years, and enjoyed every minute of it more than I would have ever thought. Then our church leaders decided to go to contemporary music. Actually, it was more like metal... guitars with heavy distortion, singing that was more like yelling into the microphone, and very LOUD. If that brings some people to the Lord, great... but it just isn't for me. It doesn't seem very... "worshipful", IMO.
After a two year haitus, I'd like to hook up with another country gospel bunch. If/when I do, it's great to know that I'll have your treasure trove of tabs available to me. Your tabs are the very best, and there's no resource anywhere to compare with yours. You have my sincere thanks for making these tabs available to steelers world wide. Please keep up the good work... perhaps traditional Christian music will make a comeback.
Johnny,
I know what you're saying. I attend a "little wooden church on the hill" and we still pretty much stick to the good old songs in the hymnal but a couple of choruses are often slipped in on Sunday.
My daughter leads the singing and, bless her heart, every once in a while she asks her old dad for some good old gospel song she'd like the congregation to sing.
Look for my free gospel song for August. I have up for grabs a great old John W. Peterson song.
Joel,
Send me an e-mail so I can get your e-mail address and I will send you a list of my gospel tabs. It's over 1,100 by now.
I send all my tabs out through the mail.
When you get the list just let me know the ones you want and I will send them to you. No prepayment is necessary.
Thank you for your interest,
Erv
