Hey Jim, tell the Mayor "hey". Fun gig always!!!! I'm at the White Elephant Beer Garden with John Layton, weather permitting. I guess the rain won't hurt the MSA though
Man, I was off and missed the Wheel at Billy Bob's last night. They did a live album and DVD. Apparently there were twin steels as they had Cindy and Murph on stage. Can't believe I'm 20 min. away and didn't go.
This will be one to get when it comes out, for sure!!!!

I did a 6-9 p.m. gig on Thursday with a jazz piano trio, then rushed over to a roadhouse on main street (Finnigan's) to do Thurs-Fri-Sat with country band Rural Route.
Last night's crowd was so unbelievably unresponsive, it prompted the lead singer to announce "Well, we're really happy to be back playing at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum...." Hopefully they will be a little more lively tonight.

Played with Atlas Stucco Friday at DeLa Salle Arena for the Exclaim Cup Hockey Tournament here in Toronto. Amateur players are from across Canada and are writers, musicians, movie people etc. There was a different band playing for each game, made up of mostly hockey participants (I'm too old to play hockey and live). We played between games and play stoppages (mostly the first 4 bars of dozens of old rock songs.)
I might be at "Clinton's" tonite again with Atlas Stucco...waiting for the call. The scheduled U.S. band cancelled last minute because of SARS scare.!?!?

Jubitz Truck Stop on Thurs nite. Jason Snell and the Last Ride. Good local band.
Suggestion:
If you sit right up front, it's going to be pretty loud. The PA system is geared for about halfway into the "hall", where most of the people are. Truck drivers usually don't want to walk very far to the bar, and don't usually sit in the front rows of an "all male" "show". ( Some of them do, and there's nothing wrong with that.) This means that if you sit up front, you're going to have to raise your voices to talk to your "date" or be thought to be hitting on the band if you show up "stag".
Whatever you do, Don't say you weren't warned. Nights when there's a cover charge, I've instituted a "Cover Refund Policy", for the disgruntled, paid out of the tips we grab off the tables before the waitress gets them.
I think they have a "drivers room" where conversational tones are much softer, and there is good peaceful fellowship to be found there with other truckdrivers, and their wives. They also have inspirational books there.
Harrassment is welcome, and actually encouraged, but returned in ways you might not expect. Sometimes you're bat....
You'll also only hear "me" trying to sound like somebody trying to sound like somebody else on cover tunes. It's a wonder I continue getting away with it. They always seemed to.
He is Risen.
TIA.
