PSG mag server bug
Terry you seem to have either of
1.) an outlook virus,
2.) a programming error in your server,
3.)you have been hacked.
Time to re install from back up from BEFORE this problem started.
IT IS coming from your server and going out to all your mailing list from the remove message section.
Call your IT guy tout de suite and shut down that section.
Everyone else, don't send remove messages
PS run a virus program before you install and delete any auto back up from after the problems started, because you might have backed up the virus also.
[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 15 April 2003 at 04:41 AM.]

I have extrememly update and sensitive virus and firewall protection. I have already contacted our ISP (as of Monday 3:00PM CST) as well as our SiteServer & hosting provider... and it is not on our end. I REPEAT... IT IS NOT ON OUR END ANYWHERE! It is possibly a recipient of our message that had a worm, or virus. It is however, an uncanny coincidence that this happened only after we had decided to go ahead and take subscriptions due to the support, though support was very divided among previously upset buyers of a past, un-named magazine for steel (for allegedly "ripping people off"?) Isn't that what I remember hearing?
SO, to this unresponsible post that I am replying to up here now... WE HAVE NO SERVER PROBLEM!
Please do not reply to any of those messages. Please do not forward them either. It appears to me to be sabotage, as we are not using any lists at present. We did make a message initially, but did not mass mail multiple copies, or anything like that. Unfortunately, this is ruining our subscriptions, and this is unfortunate for the people who wanted the magazine to continue, and probably a blessing to those who despise, or are jealous of this magazine. I'm sorry anyone is having to deal with this. Just be thankful it didn't happen to you by using one of your messages, as to make you out to be the problem, as has
apparently happened to us.

Terry. I am terribly sorry you felt this was an irresponsable post. I do not.
With the information I had at hand several hours before the USA wakes up... it had all the appearances of exactly what I was bringing to your attention.
And I was bringing it to ~YOUR attention, not slaming you in public.... as some have done.
In the only place it seemed possible. Since e-mails to PSGM seemed to be diffused widely anyway, it wasn't likely to be an invisible problem.
And didn't seem likely you were even getting them correctly; one of the tricks hackers and virus specialists use to slow down fixes....
I gave a short list of possible things for you to look at.
It "seems" #3 is the likely cause; based your statements.
Whether on or off your server there is a problem. A good hacker can get by the BEST anti virus and firewalls. Even if you updated them THIS week.
If someone was intercepting your packets and emulating your server, that doesn't make it irresponsable to bring this to your attention here as early as possible.
This is the one common place for you, me and the magazine that I know of.
I never thought there was a benifit of the doubt issue. I never said you were spamming everyone.
I NEVER said you WERE a problem, just that there was one.
I just wanted the problem addressed in the shortest time frame possible...
for your sake NOT mine.
There is no shame in being hacked... it's not your fault. You shouldn't take it personally, it is a part of being on the web in a community of all sorts of types. It isn't likely to be a conspiracy against you, it is most likely one person. With that person you should take it personally, not the rest of us.
So lashing out at me really is misplaced.
I am on your side, even if you don't seem realize it under so much presure at the moment.
[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 15 April 2003 at 03:55 PM.]
