"Blue Jade" off of the black album. Nobody can possibly not like that song.

Tony,

I bet you're glad you asked. Remember: A horse designed by committee is a camel.

Maybe we could just submit our recommended drafts of the article we'd like her to print. Image

Marty: You must have Lloyd's "Steel Rides" album too. I have it on vinyl.

How about track one of Tommy White's new CD, Steel Minor.

Another great one is Steve Palousek's version of Spain.

I recommend either some of the songs on Curly Chalker's "Counterpoint" LP, or Maurice Anderson's "Universal Direction" album.

I especially recommend "Whatever it takes" from Universal Direction, and "If" from Counterpoint. I think tyhose to songs are the two most exquisitely beautiful piece of music ever recorded on a steel guitar, and the rich dark tone both Reece and Curly get is most assuredly not twangy.
[This message was edited by Mike Perlowin on 18 September 2002 at 05:30 AM.]

The "Classic Movie" with Rhett& Scarlet that has been playing in the movie theaters, on TV,,and on vidio..has a Great Theme Song..all through the movie. People of ALL music genders can relate to this song.
Tera's Theme!....Lloyd Green had it on an album and is also included on "Slide" that was produced by Pete Drake...and I belive that Mike Sweeny also has it on an album.
This particular song shows ..just what the PSG..can do to a great arrangement....But many of the selctions mentioned above are also great....let her hear a little of a mix of styles.

Well - - - too many good tunes to choose from, so guess you will just have to go with Joe Wirght's version of, "House of the Rising Sun" (slow, pretty, W-I-L-D, and not whinny at all)

Sounds like we are trying to convince the gal to like the steel. I would just play her Danny Boy from the BE Black album and be done with it. There is hardly a person breathing that would not be familiar with this tune unless they are in hiding in a cave. If the gal happens to say , "Geeze thats incredible" and wants to hear more then open the flood gates.

just my cent worth..afterall, isn't
Danny Boy one of the primary tunes we are all still trying to emulate ? Well, many of us I suppose..

TARA THEME. Gone With The Wind is something many can relate to and Tara Theme is a beautiful piece. Recently I have been studying Jim Cohen's version and the more I listen to it the more moved I am by it. Jim does the number much different than many I have listened to but his style is undeniable pure class.

Well done!
Three songs are mentioned that anyone (who doesn't already have them in their collection) can get hold of at any music store, or hear on the radio pretty much any day.
