Hey Smiley-mon,
I sure enjoyed hearing you play at ISGC. Thanks for working up Green Onions; it was great; you really have that organ-sound nailed. And the talkbox was a real treat. Great playing all around, pal. See you at Mass Bash in a coupla weeks.

Smiley, you sounded great. Don't look bad for your age, either.

I, too, heard Smiley for the first time and was very impressed! He gets an amazing variety out of a single 10 tuning and a great sound on that little ShoBud. Very nice selection of tunes, too. BTW, nobody mentioned yet the title of that Pete Drake tribute w/talkbox - I´m just the guitar, everybody picks on me... think about it for a moment!
Is Smiley great, or what? Image

Hi Smiley,

Your performance was sure worth getting up early for. You sounded great and your set had a unique assortment of material. I really enjoyed it. All the best to you.

Having spent 4 days with the Smiley one I guess I can take anything.(actually I still can't take his driving).I went to the Show eactly to see and hear Smiley's long awaited debut on the ISGC.And it was worth the trip..Everything else I viewed was a bonus but seeing Smiley on the stage and his flawless performance was the whole reason i made the trip.I couldn't help but admire the way Scotty organized and carried out the entire show. The man must still be sleeping after those 4 days of tireless co-ordinating the shows.(And what must take a whole year to organize) Enough can't be said about Stoney. And what has to be one of the worlds best put together backup bands.Bobby Caldwell must have bleeding stubs for fingers now and Roy Rosetta will probably stand up for a month.Greg Galbreath with Buddy was a great plus also....No better show at any price, ANYWHERE. I got my moneys worth if I only got to watch three steelers.SMILEY ROBERTS belongs as a part of any Steel show,He entertains and can pick with the best of them.If Smiley is there next year I probably will be too.Smiley has never been a surprise to me...The Hotel may have lacked the standards needed to please all who attended but Scotty certainly did 500% more than he physicly should have. This was not just a Steel guitar show.It was a Great Steel Guitar show. And what great choices for the HOF..JMHFO.

Hello Sleepy, Jerry and the rest of the gang. I agree totally with what has already been said about Smiley's part of the show at the ISGC. I really liked his choice of music, especially his tribute to the great Pete Drake. Sometimes something different comes along and gets your attention and Smiles did just that. Keep it up Smilley! Thanx again, everybody. Just a "short" note,to ley y'all know that, since my "debut" at the "big one",(St.Louie) I've decided,(to the "joy" of some people),to "retire" the "shorts". I don't want them gettin' more "famous" than me. (I can't take the competition) Image So,the shorts will remain in my "drawers",so to speak. That's it! Adios,Sayonara,Adieu, auf Wiedersehen, etc.

(how d'ya like that? He didn't even say,"goodbye"!) Image Image

Smiley,
You might reconsider. After all those shorts helped make you what you are today.

Now let's see, what is it that they cover???
