Great job Herb. Now, next year bring Johnny
Bush along so Lynn doesn't have to field his telegrams.

Nice to see so many great players getting some rare exposure on the big stage at Scotty's.

Hey Herb,
Glad to get to see you at the convention. I was very impressed with your set. I'd say you played that Texas swing as well or better that I'd heard it played before. Must be something in the water down there. You really had that great fat tone for sure. Fat with a lot of punch and musical dynamics going on. Great Job!!!

Herbster, my brother in Fessydom: You done yourself proud. It may have been the best I've heard you yet. A very smooth and tasteful set of great tunes. What else is there? Image

Herb and Jim both did a great job, wonderful players. Herb and I had some time to talk some about the forum. This is a great thing, let us use it for information and support that we all need from each other. Some of the great players of our world offer us a fortune of information on the forum. If we don't like a player or view let us not degrade the player or his view but voice your thoughts in a humane manner or we may lose our wealth. Terry

I didn;t listen to much online at the ISGC but I did manage to catch Herb's set. This was some of the best playing I have heard in St. Louis. FAT tone, great choice of material. But more than anything, the Herbster sounded relaxed, and was playing in the pocket. Too many steel players at the convention sound nervous, trying to impress, and sound like they are trying to play too many notes (with bad time). Herb's playing was a Smooth Flavor.

Herb-The great Alvino Rey played "On the Alamo" with his big band in 1940.

I heard you play it on Steel.Radio and you just took it up a couple of notches and really swinging all the way. Simply great!!

Thanks...al Image Image

Thanks Herb for hanging out with me during the weekend-you are a good friend and fine player as shown to all at Scottys-I know that alot of preparation was done to make your set come off right and you deserve
the credit for making the "rite of passage" of playing the ISGC for the first time-and pulling it off so well Image
