A Word Of Thanks To Reece

Post by Sidney Malone »

I wanted to take a minute to thank a dear friend and mentor for his guidance in learning to play this instrument.

I have'nt been playing much for the last couple of years due to moving, building a new home and all that goes with that. A frind of mine called wanting my wife and I to play at church this afternoon. I reluctantly agreed because I knew how rusty I would be.

After we finished playing we got a lot of compliments on the music, my beautiful wife's singing (which is always great, thanks Teresa) and I got several (I think undeserved) for my steel playing. I couldn't help but think that if it had not been for the teaching of Reece Anderson, I would not have been playing steel there today.

The fundamentals he teaches has stuck with me more than I ever imagined and I know that those fundamentals along with God's grace and blessings got us through the music successfully.

I'm always guilty of not giving thanks where it's due and I just wanted to say Thank You to Reece for all He's done for my playing!!

Right on Sidney!! Reece has now given me the insight of pedal steel and I now practice with a purpose. There is a lot more to pedal steel then just playing tab. Thanks Reece!

Sidney.....There is no way I can express my appreciation for your kind and thoughtful words.

The credit of learning goes not to me, but to those like you who make the commitment and put fourth the effort to come here to learn.

I consider myself to be much like a doctor who dispences medicine, yet had nothing to do with the discovery of the medicine which cures the patient.

I dispense information, and enthusiasts who come here make it work because of their commitment, enthusiasm, positive attitude, hard work, and willingness to "take the medicine" as prescribed.

I am very blessed to have had the privilege of sharing music with you and many others over the years.

I want to sincerely thank each of you who have provided me the opportunity and privilege of sharing music with you. As a result, my "journey" has been very happy and blessed.........and it continues to be.

Well me being the ol leg hummper that I am I must say a few words too Image

I have been a fan of Maurices now for 32 years, from the day he bent and put on my first set of picks,[all 3]..I have learn't so much from Maurice, not just playing steel, and I fell I'm a better man for knowing him, I spend 3 day's a year still, and leave just a little better than I was when I got there, If anyone out there has ever thought about studying with Maurice, stop waiting, go , it will be a very inlightening lesson in life as well as steel, Maurice Anderson is MY hero,!!!!!!

David.....I remember thinking 32 years ago when I fit your picks for you.....this guy is going to be a great player.

You had a strong desire, and I was convinced your perseverance, positive attitude and enthusiasm would allow you to reach your musical goals.

I and many others will attest to your outstanding musicianship, which validates your ability and determination to succeed.
