Who was the first opry staff band member to play pedal steel? Roy wiggins may have been the first electric steel player when he worked with PeeWee King.

Hi Butch,

I think it must have been Bud Isaacs.

Was Little Roy Wiggins ever a staff member. I know he played for several groups and then Eddy Arnold hired him to be his steel player. But I never knew he was an opry staff member. Maybe, not sure.

I am going to take a stabb on PSG as being maybe Weldon Myrick or Sonny Curtis. Again not sure.

Larry, you're right. Agter I left the Jimmy Dickens band I became a staff member at the Opry. Later Pete Drake, Hal Rugg, Sonny Burnette, Weldon, Loyd came to town and played with the bands they were working with.I was there about 13 years. Buddy Emmons was there working with Ernest Tubb.

Walter, didn't you play steel on many of the early Happy Goodman gospel albums. Did you ever do any road work with them?

Louie, I played steel and guitar on most of the early Happy Goodman sessions. When I got into record producton I had to cut back. Larry, I thank you for your kind words, if I can be of help to anyone I'll try and answer if I can remember back that far.
