Welcome to the forum Terry, what took you so long? For those of you who dont know Terry,I will try to introduce you....
Terry came to the Grand Ole Opry with Jimmy C. Newman in the 70sand added steel to the Cajin Mix. He not knowing cajin, was forced to do his own thing and with the aid of Rufus Thibadeaux he played remarkable things...he later drifted to other artist and then to sessions and had good sucess in the Gospel field.
He later met newcomer, Shania Twain and she and Terry put her first band together...some of this is history...
Terry has written a book about these and other adventures while with a steel guitar, and has a link in the preceding post that will be much more informative...
Welcome and good luck.

Uh Oh! Image Bobbe's up here? I'm in trouble now... He knows the stories I had to leave out of the book! Image I did have to tell one on Lynn though... to this day it tops most all... that I can tell anyway. And I will formally apologize to Mr. Shorts for leaving him out of the book. So, as to head-off the obvious mistake I have made in this error. (You know those editors Smiley - they're just like those dang producers that bury the steel in the mix. He he he!)

Anyhow, thanks all! This could actually bring an 'old string puller out of nearly anything he may be sufferin' frum - Look forward to many years of fun. Image

Terry,

How you doin'?

I saw Jerry Fessenden in Dallas last weekend and he says "Hi", says you helped him out a lot in the old days.

For the rest of you, I met Terry at a show in MI. I set up my Fessy next to his "aged" Sho-Bud, and the rest is history...

A more decent man you will not meet!

Thanks for the inspiration, Terry.

cheers,
Drew

I couldn't agree with you more Dr. Wayne! Lynn has done things for the steel (many haven't a clue about) and the steel players... (and really just about anyone) for YEARS!!!!!!!

...and thank you Drew for the hello and such kind words! Drew, the way you "make hay fly" on that FESSY you pick... and with only a few years at it... you're a "terror in training" as I see it! I hope to see Jerry Fessenden tomorrow... and speaking of JF, the help Jerry told you about probably didn't include "just how much Jerry has helped and been a good friend to me" since we all know how Jerry is... he never would blow his own horn! (Happy Easter to everyone while I think of it!) I must admit... Bobbe wouldn't tell you... but I think I stole quite a few of his "hottest licks" to manage solos each week on OBS with Jimmy C... (and incidentally, that "very special bar" I got from you Bobbe, has made playing "slicker, smoother, and faster" ALL THE WAY AROUND!
