Just got a new package from ATT

This is kind of a long story:
2 days ago my computer totally crashed. When doing a ctrl+alt+delete procedure some pop-up apparently said something like back-up registry files. Well I hit enter too fast and lost all my drivers. Couldn't extract my ethernet driver from the CDrom so just bought a USB connection to get back on the net. ANYWAYS, my current dsl plan expires on the 26th. I called ATT to make sure that when I reinstalled my dsl software I wouldn't create a new agreement. While she had me on the phone she asked if I wanted to renew. I said the offer that was mailed to me was not appealing and I planned to cancel in a few days. So, she gave me the All- Distance package which includes everything for $58. With tax she said it would be around $69. So basically, I'm improving my service with no price increase. And, I made back on the net!

What all do you get for that $69 (a month, I presume)?

I have ATT dsl. Generally, the subscrition requires you to sign up for a mimimum of 6 months to one year. After your term expires, your rate will be increased (month to month rate and any discounts expire). To avoid that, call ATT and ask to be signed up for their next promotional fare. Also if you see a jump in your monthly charge because you did not realize the original term expired, call them and they should retroactively credit you if you sign up for the next promotional fare. As a rule, I have found that my annual cost has slighty decreased from year to year as the prices decrease, plus level of service increase. Those who don't do this find their bills increasing. I suspect a lot of folks don't do this and just end up eating the higher costs.

Dave, I get the phone line, unlimited local/long distance, all call features, voice mail, inside wire coverage, and the dsl, 12 month agreement. All I had to do was say I was terminating my dsl and out came the special deal.

Yeah, that's better than what we're paying. We live outside the metro area, and we're captive to the local telephone co-op. I can't switch my DSL anywhere else even if I wanted to, there are no other providers out here ('cept satellite internet, not cost effective IMO). No cable TV, either, so cable internet's not an option.

It's a trade-off for the lower probability of getting mugged, I guess.
