Don't buy a Wireless mouse, if-*****

I got one and had it 2 months and already it is requiring me to put in my 3rd set of batteries. My old computer had the one with a wire and I liked it better and didn't have to put up with the reminder every few minutes to change batteries.!!

Any one else have this problem, and do yu know what is going on here.? thanks..al

I also have a wireless mouse (Logitech) and it eats batteries two weeks. Cost of convenience I guess. They should have included an off button on these mice.

The best way to extend the batteries is to pull one out every night.

Thanks, Wiz. I thought it was turned off when I shutdown the computer, but guess not.That makes a difference.

As for convenience, i had the wired ones for years and it was just as convenient, in fact it was less touchy than this one.

Wiz-can I hook up a wired one and still keep my Wireless keyboard? That I like...thanks..al

Certainly! Just hookup the wired mouse to a USB or PS2 mouse port and leave the keyboard as is.

I have a wired optical mouse permanently connected, in case the wireless mouse dies in the middle of something important.

We have a wireless keyboard... in the closet.... it's a bigger battery-hog than our wireless mouse was.

I use the Microsoft wireless mouse on my Mac laptop. I pull the trasmitter out of the USB port and dock it in the mouse when I shut the computer. When the transmitter is docked, the receiver doesn't eat batteries.

I've had this for over a year and haven't replaced the batteries. I use this computer for an hour or two every day.

Buy two pairs of rechargeable batteries.
When one set goes flat, put the other pair in. Then put the first set on charge.
That worked for me for two years until the button wore out on my first optical mouse.
Then I bought one with a charging dock.

Thnks guys for all the info.
I don't mind changing the batteries once a month, no big deal, but I hate that notice popping up all the time to change batteries way ahead of time.
I am going to pull a battery every night when I shut down from now on. I'l bet that will make them last a lot longer. Thanks for the information. ...al

I have a Logitech wireless mouse (with rechargeable batteries). I never unplug the transmitter (though I do turn off the PC every night)and the batteries seem to last months at a time..

I had better go to the original one

I do use my computer a lot and it is on a lot of the time and I replace a set of batteries every 3 weeks so far.

I am going to do like Wiz, get one with a line cord just for backup in case I run out of batteries at the wrong time....al

Hi guy's just buy one that shuts down after a preset time of inactivity. I have a Dell mouse and keyboard (made by logitech) and it works that way and I've had it for over 8 months and I'm still on the same set of alkalines. I gave 35.00 for kb and mouse with batteries included.

I think you find most of the newer wireless mice will have that feature built in unless you buy one of 15 bucks or less and then it probably won't have this technology.

I bought a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 2.0 almost 3 years ago. Paid $40 for it at Wal-Mart. It takes 2 AA batteries. I have had to replace the batteries twice so far.

The sending/receiving unit is located about 10" from the mouse (if this matters).

I leave my computer on an average of 14 hours a day. Be sure that the mouse is on a level surface. The slightest unevenness causes the red light to intensify and blink continually which probably uses more power.

I have a Logitech model M-RY81, cordless infra-red mouse with the (USB) connection and recharger base. It gets used 6-10 hours every day, and it's over 2 years old. Never replaced the batteries, and never had a problem with it!

However...

Had a relative who had the same mouse, and it went dead after 3 months. Turns out she had the recharger-base plugged into a power-strip......and she turned off the power strip every night.

Yep, that'll do it!

I'm into my 3rd month with a Logitech LX5. It does the auto-shutdown thing and I'm totally satisfied with battery life.

Jon-Looks like I'll have to get a new one. I just bought a new HP Windows Player Media
edition computer ,300 gigs for all my music storage, 2 gigs of memory, LCD /monitor, etc.in april brand new ,latest model and put 3 sets of AA Batteries, in less than 3 months. I have my computer on about 14 hours a day.
