11006 Error

Post by John Hawkins »

Often I get a 619 error on dialup and for the first time, I got a different error numbered 11006 . It went away on restart but is there something I should be doing to eliminate these errors from happening again?
the 619 error happens a lot when I get suddenly disconnected from the server ( or don't get connected at all ) . The disconnect usually comes right when the dialup is completed .

I have WINDOWS XP home .

I am pretty much a computer dummy so I really don't know how to approach these problems .

I would appreciate anyones' help and suggestions .

Thanks,
John

John, the 619 is a pain..

The 619 error means the port is disconnected, or in use by another program. If you have fax software, or something like PCAnywhere, close them before dialing. If all else fails, you may need to reinstall your modem drivers. For details on this see the quote posted at the end of this.

The 11006 error is similar, probably related. It means system resources are low, so it can not start the TCPIP session. Possibly due to the first problem.

11006 IP_NO_RESOURCES Insufficient system resources

Error 619

1. Reboot
2. Make sure that no other programs are using your modem. Fax software, Supervoice, etc...
3. Ctrl-Alt-Delete, if you see RNAAPP loaded, then continue reading below:

RNAAPP fix page:

RNAAPP (Remote Network Access Application) is a core executable for Microsoft Windows Dial-Up Networking. RNAAPP can create a problem when trying to get Internet access by sometimes sticking in memory from a previous session, or too early in a dial-up attempt, thus making your system believe that a connection is already established. The error messages "Dial-up Networking could not-establish a compatible set of network protocols…", "No dial tone", "Unable to Open Communications Port", "The Line is Busy…", "The Modem is Being Used…", and "Error 602: The Port is Already Open" are all common errors that you may receive with RNAAPP improperly loaded into memory.

To remove RNAAPP first press Ctrl-Alt-Del and end task this program. Reboot your computer. Make sure that no other programs such as fax software, supervoice, or other programs are using your modem. If there is nothing else using the modem, and you still cannot dial-up at this point, make sure the modem is not using any in it strings. If it is, try removing these and rebooting to make sure that this is not being caused by the string. Still having troubles? Perform the first step again, and reboot. When your computer comes up remove all dialers, .pwl files, network settings, and dial-up networking. Reboot your computer and add back dial-up networking, your network components, reboot again, and create your new dialer.

If the issue persists try uninstalling and reinstalling the modem, however make sure that you have the proper driver disks if it is not a PnP modem.

Hope this helps John.

Tom,
Thanks very much for taking your time to reply to this computer "dummy's" problems.

I just opened up the PC today so later, I will follow you suggestions and see what happens! I did check to see if the modem was operating correctly as directed in the "details" of the 619 error and it showed it was ok . Watever that means !!

Thanks again for your help !I printed out your post for future reference !
