Uncontrollable Mouse!

Post by richard burton »

Why does my cursor arrow move at random, usually just as I'm about to click on something?
Example:I clicked on an icon on the desktop (can't remember which one), and at the same instant of clicking, the arrow jumped up, landed on my antivirus icon, and deleted it.
It's gone, so I have to open the antivirus from 'programs'.

Richard, try cleaning the mouse if it is a wheel mouse.
Go into programs, find the one you want to create a shortcake for, drag and drop it to your desktop, voila! new shortcut. JP

If it's a ball mouse (not the optical kind) fuzz collects on the inside. Unscrew the little circular piece form the bottom of the mouse and remove the ball. Next scrape all the fuzzy and gummy stuff from the 3 "rollers" on the inside. When you put the ball back inside, the mouse should work just fine until it gets dirty again.

Ideally, just get yourself a USB optical mouse at WallMart for $10 or so.

It's called ASDA here, since they bought the Associated Dairies chain a few years ago.
