Band in a Box - Hawaiian styles?
I just finally broke down and got myself a copy of Band In A Box from PG Music (http://www.pgmusic.com). It's an excellent practice tool and pretty simple to use. I've downloaded more songs than I'll ever want to play, but I can't find a good Hawaiian string band style. Does anyone know if such a thing exists? I've got bluegrass styles that work pretty well, but I want to play Hawaiian and can't get it to sound very good yet.

Brad -- that's a good question. I'll be if they don't have those styles available, they'd add it if enough BIAB users who want it, asked for it.
Can BIAB styles be altered to sort of create your own styles? For example, can one take a rhythm comp from one style, and insert it into another, different style?

Todd,
You can mix any instruments from any style you want as well as styles and you can also edit the patterns of the styles as well as create your own styles through out any song you create.
My web site shows how to do these kinds of things with plenty of screen shots and instructions. www.gwixon.com

Check out Hiwaislo on style disk 30. Not too bad if you tweak it a little. Also,!Campgit on style disk 24 is not bad if you change the guitars to uke. No drums on this one.

b0b, O just saw what you posted, those are good. Oliver Gannon, who makes the styles for BIAB is looking for examples. Would you mind if I gave him that link?

Those are my styles, Howard. I posted them here for the use of forum members. I wouldn't want them showing up in some commercial package, as it took me a while to develop them.

That's understandable, and that's why I asked. You did a good job on them.

Just to be clear, I have no objection to steel players using these styles for practice, performance, or even recording projects. I just don't want my BIAB files to end up being sold, because then I would lose control of my own work.
I'm glad people like these styles. I've used them for performing and jamming and they always seem to go over well. Anyone who's setting up a steel jam is welcome to use these files.

In addition to suggesting more Hawaiian song files to PG Music we need to get them to offer Steel Guitar options to their GUITAR Fretboard Window.I find the keyboard and fretboard windows usefull learning tools.
They offer some altered tunings but not C6th or E9th and no 8,10 or 12 String layouts. Seems like if enough folks eMailed them they could be persuaded to program it to allow any number of strings tuned to any note.
Or possibly some computer savy forumite could "invent" a program that would hook into BIAB and which would allow the above options and maybe even show common Pedal Steel pedal and knee lever action.
