Like losing an old friend

Post by erik »

Just canceled my dial-up @ stowetel.com. It served me well for 2 years. Spent a total of $120 for unlimited, ad-free surfing.

Okay Erik ... I'll bite. If you liked it so much, why did you drop it?

What's your point here?

I liked my email address and the service was CHEAP! It's like moving. I had to go through all my emails, printed a few, deleted most, then had to click the "go" button. This is the no turning back click. It's a bit sad. And no, I wasn't interested in moving my emails and configurations using the Yahoo tool.

(Jim, if that answered your question, explain it to me.)

I have seen this agonizing about leaving a dialup ISP before. One of my long time clients is on AOL and hates it. Everytime we discuss upgrading to DSL he worries about losing all of his email contacts that know his AOL email address. He will not leave that ISP for fear of dropping off the Radar, so to speak. I can't even talk him into getting Broadband and adding AOL for Broadband as an option.

I have other customers who put up with slow downloads, frequent disconnects and busy signals when trying to connect, rather than moving up to broadband. Those that do make the switch almost never go back to dialup, unless they move to a location where it is not available to them.
