Attachment gone

Post by jolynyk »

I am using Outlook Express.. when somebody would send me an attachment I used to get a paper clip on the right side, I would click on it & the attachment would open.
Now I get a paper clip on the left side, but I have to double click on the sender's name to bring up the attachment, Then double click on the subject line on the next screen, then I get a box that asks if I want to open it or save it to my computer.. I click open, & I can then see the attachment.
I would like to get it back the way it used to be.. Can someone please tell me how to do it..
Thanks..... John

Is it saying OE removed an attachment? This was happening to me so I unclicked that in security. I didn't know why I was never able to get an attachment.

Ron. I get all attachments, but I have to double click the senders name, then I double click in the attachment line just below the subject line.. then a box comes up asking if I want to open it or save it to disk..

John,
Don't know if will help you or not but try ( BTW-I run Windows XP home) this :
Open Outlook Express then tools- then options then security tab. you will see an optional setting Of " Internet Zone " or"Restricted Zone " Select Internet Zone . Where you have the option to select "Do not allow attachments to open that could potentially be a virus --make sure that option is NOT SELECTED . You Anti-virus program ( I'm assuming you have one) should be adequate to protect your computer from an infection.

You can try this and I hope it helps restore your little paper clip in the same place as before . If not- someone else can offer you a solution that will, possibly .

Thanks John.. My Internet Zone was not checked, so I checked it, & the other one was not checked so I left it as you suggested.. I hit apply & OK, so next time I get an attachment I will check it & post the results..
thanks for your help.

John-I have always opened an attachment the same way you do. I agree with you that it is a bother.
I didn't know about the paper clip shortcut....al

Hi Al.Maybe this is the normal way, & maybe I was just lucky having it the other way, it's not like I can't get my attachments now, but I miss the way it used to be..
The paper clip showed up on the right side, & when I clicked on it, a box came up right away asking if I want to open it or save it to disk.
After I lost it, I got an e-mail with an attachment, & I'd left click on the name, & nothing happened, so I deleted them, but I knew there was supposed to be an attachment because there was a paper clip on the left side.. after deleting a few, I tried double clicking on the sender & voila..
So now I can still get them, by double clicking the sender, then double clicking on the attachment line.
