Drive not recognized

Post by jolynyk »

I have 2 drives in my computer, a CDRW, & a DVDRW.. Up until yesterday both worked fine, did some copying & backups with Roxio.. I went to do more back up today, & it's like my DVD dissappeared, it's not recognized.. Looked in My Computer, & it shows only one drive, the CDRW.. brought up Roxio, & it only has the CDRW listed. When I push Eject nothing happens , like no power...
The computer (desktop model), hasn't been moved or jiggled in any way for a wire to come loose.. It has never failed me before.. Any suggestions will be appreciated.. Thanks in advance... John

Check the power connector on the back of the drive. It's apparently lost power or has an internal problem. If it was just missing from Windows it would still open and close.

If it's not the power connector, unfortunately it's probably done for and will need replacement.

Jack, you hit the nail on the head...don't know why it happened, but it did.. I just pushed on the power wire & away it went.. I couldn't even feel that it was out any, but it was.. Appreciate your help... John

Forgot to mention, I did turn the computer off doing the above..
