Mouse/Cursor

Post by Roy Thomson »

Presently I am experiencing a problem that I have had a few other times before.
It seems I have to move the mouse off the
pad sometimes to get it to move to the
start button or to the bottom of the monitor screen. At times he cursor does not respond
sharply to the movement of the mouse.
Is this an indication that I need a new mouse? I have opened the back and cleaned
but it does not seem to help.
Thanks for any help suggestions.

Some times the rollers the ball ride on will get lint built up on them. If it's a mouse with the ball on the bottom, take the ball out and check the rollers and axles it rides on.

Yep, whatcha wanna doo is take a small sharp blade and peel the crud off the two steel rollers and the rubber follower roller. Hafta scrape it though, and blow it out. Usually the stuff sticks to the rollers pretty tight. A Q-tip with some fingernail polish remover on it will finish the job nicely. Then clean the mouse ball too.
(If optical mouse then ignore all of the above... Image )
[This message was edited by Ray Minich on 19 January 2005 at 01:46 PM.]
