No keyboard after booting

Post by Ed Meadway »

After booting (about 10% of the time) some letters will work and sometimes none will respond at all. I can shut down and restart and all will be OK on the second boot. I don't think this is a virus as I have ran the program many times. This has been happening for quite some time. Going to keyboard in the control panel doesn't seem to be any help. I have cleaned and re-seated the connector. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks....Ed

Depends maybe on the type of keyboard you're using. I have a cordless and occasionally that will happen to me. It seems that the batteries will drain to the point that they are only partially operational. I change batteries, problem solved. Hope that helps.

Once I forgot to connect the keyboard. I got a message:
<font face="monospace" size="3"><pre>Keyboard Error. Press F1 to continue.</pre></font>Duh.

Try a different keyboard, they go bad more often than you would think. Jim

Sounds like a moisture problem in the keyboard to me. Once the seals break or if you have spilled something on it, it will never be the same. I spilled coffee in mine once - took it apart and cleaned it and from that point on it had a mind of it's own with the same exact symptoms you describe. Keyboards are cheap. I'd just go get another one.
