Slow upload

Please please!!!!Is there a quicker way i can upload MP3 tracks in my e-mail`s? at the moment it is taking around 45 mins to send only one track.I know Broadband will do it faster but i cant get B/B where i live in G/Britain I am using Windows XP as my main pc but it is getting slower and slower.Thanks for any help.

Jimmy,

Well, you are given an upload speed limit by your ISP.

One thing you may try is to reduce the bit rate of the mp3 file. Maybe if you have it at 128kb/sec try reducing it to 64 kbs/ms.

How are you sending them? Are they attached to
an email or are you using some type of FTP program?

HI BOB,Thanks for reply,and yes i am sending them with an E-MAIL.If there is another way i would love to know,it would be no problem if i could get Broadband but it is not avaliable where i live so if i cant find another quicker way of sending them i will have to put up with the slow upload.Thanks once again..God bless..

How are you getting the Mp3's into your computer??..Meaning...Are you getting them compressed to proper size???
What size is a Mp3 file your sending?

HI Ricky,Thanks for your reply,i have only just found out how to convert my audio CD`s to MP3 using a program i downloaded from the computer section of the SGF and im not too sure how to change the size of the MP3 file.I think the size of one of the MP3 files is 1885KB but they are different sizes depending on the length of the audio track.

If there is a way to change the size of the files to make them upload faster i would be very gratefull for any help that you can give me thanks once again.

Have you ever seen a D10 BENNETT?if you would like to se mine just let me know and i will E-MAIL a pic

Jimmy,

If you have a personal web site you can do a FTP transfer to that site (or any free storage service). Then you can send an email with a URL(internet address) in it so that others can download it. You will have limited storage but you can delete the files after they arrive at the other end. There are many Free FTP programs available. The theory is that FTP will transfer faster that attaching it to a e-mail.

Jimmy that is almost 2 meg per MP3....that sounds normal pal..don't do anything different...that's a good download.
But as far as the upload..ha..>well since you can't get cable or DSL...than the idea of plopping them in a storage online..so your people can go check'um out theirselves is a GREAT idea..>than you don't have to send them in E-mail..yeee haa.

I think you have it wrong there, my friend.
If you reduce the upload speed from 128 to 64 kb/sec, you will have doubled the time it takes to up-load. Because you are only sending ½ the data rate you would be sending if at the 128 speed.

I know the moden internet stuff is a bummer.
I changed over to cable the day it was avalable in my local. I'm sorry I don't have a answer to Jimmy's problem either.
