Can't Delete Interrnet Files

Post by Leon Roberts »

I have Windows XP. When I try to delete internet files, they seem to copy themselves and remain in the folders. It seems that Steel Guitar Nashville is the biggest culprit. Do I have a virus or maybe some Spy ware that has invaded my CPU. I have Norton AntiVirus 2003 with all the updates and nothing showed up when I ran a complete scan. Any help will be appreciated.

Leon,

How are you deleting the "Internet Files"?

Depending on how you are deleting these files, one answer may be that the default Windows XP file recovery is turned on. Basically, when you delete a file it will restore it for you. Some people like this feature but I find it more of a pain in the you know what.

Let me know...

Cheers!
Mark

Mark, thanks for responding. It sounds like you have identified the solution to my problem. However, I tried to check the default setting but couldn’t find it. Could you give the steps to go through to turn the file recovery off? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Leon,

Hey buddy, here you go...

"RIGHT CLICK" on My Computer and then scroll down to "Properties". A window will pop open and you want to click on the "System Restore" tab. You will then see a check box titled "Turn Off System Restore". Just put the check in that box and you should be all set!

Cheers!
Mark
