What did I do?

Post by Dave Little »

I don't know what I did, but now when I right click on a link and choose "Open in New Window", the new window come up half size instead of maximized (like it always did before). Its a minor pain but how can I correct this?

Maybe it remembers the size of the most recent window you closed.

Dave
this happens to me all the time.
A while back I did a Google search on it & found it was an IE bug. There's a fix (can't remember details) but I think it might require a registry edit.
Meanwhile, if you double click anywhere on the top line of the window it will resize

A few months ago I had something like that. Upon entering a certain website, one or more small windows appeared and started flying rapidly around the screen in a regular pattern. I immediately thought the worst, but a full-scan later revealed no virus.

I somehow stopped the motion and opened a small window to normal size.

From that time on, probably for two or three days, all or most internet things came up in a window just a few inches big. I did what I could, but nothing helped. At least the little windows easily opened to larger ones.

After awhile everything just returned to normal by itself.

I just re-found the original instructions that I found last time this happened :

Quote :
close all instances of Internet Explorer
Start the Registry Editor
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Main
Delete the value Window_Placement
Exit the Registry Editor
Unquote

Watch out Image - editing the registry is supposed to be dangerous so you're supposed to take backup first to be safe.
