Post by Smiley Roberts »

I received an e-mail,this morning, from "Julian Winston", subject:"chalker".
DO NOT open this attachment. IT IS the dreaded "bugbear". Luckily,my Grisoft AVG caught it,& dumped it.

I opened the e mail but not the attachment. Obvioulsy someone connected with the Forum in some way is doing this. The e mail was about Curly Chalker but wasn't complete. The attachment was Forum Fun.wps.scrso if you see anything that says that get rid of it.

I got three "Steel Topic" email viri today.
My protection stopped them.

Two had the identical topic about Chalker.
The other referenced Ricky's web site.

All attachments were scr's.

Keep your Anti-Virus programs up to date!

I just got it, and deleted it.

WEBWASHER failed to find it.

I also got an email from M.Perlowin this
morning, and when I went to open the
blue & white icon that looks like a guit
amp, AVG flashed up a big red warning flag
saying this is definitely a virus - DO NOT OPEN.

I've been pretty virus free since I have had a PC [1998]. But, today, the world caught up with me and I got 2 in one day.

Not really. Viruses spread of their own accord. Probably someone with an interest in steel and an address book of steel players has been infected. I doubt that he or she is deliberately distributing the virus, though, and I would bet even money that the return address (Julian Winston) is spoofed from the infectee's address book.
