Outlook Express 6.0 Folders?
Can anyone tell me where on the hard drive to look to find the INBOX and SENT ITEMS Folders using Outlook Express 6.0 and Windows XP?
Somehow some messages have been deleted from my INBOX. I remember that when I used Win 95 the e-mail messages were *.mbx files that I could read even after they had been deleted from the DELETED folder.
Thanks,
Mel

Thanks Garth and Ernie.
Garth - I tried right clicking on the INBOX folder, but did not get anything like "Reveal Folder Location" option. I also did a search for *.mbx files and nothing showed up. I also assured that Windows Explorer had the "Show Hidden Files & Folders" option checked.
Since I am an individual user, the deleted e-mail messages do not remain on my ISPs server after I have downloaded them to my computer.
Ernie - I tried the path you suggested, but my Windows XP Home Edition showed no Application Data folder under the C:\Windows folder. The nearest thing I could find were a couple of folders named A5W_DATA and APW_DATA, neither of which contained any files or folders.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Mel;
Sorry I missed the XP in your post. The path was for 98.

Everett,
Thanks for the tip on where to find the path to the Inbox.
As you suggested, I right clicked on my "Inbox" folder, then left clicked on "Properties". This opened a window that said "This folder is stored in the following file:" C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{258B1986-6764-4E03-996E-DEAAB7E9C3C2}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Inbox.dbx
I searched for Inbox.dbx file, but nothing was found. I don't understand why, since it is on my c:drive.
Using Windows Explorer, I navigated to the file and tried to open it. This caused a window to pop up that read "Windows cannot open this file: Inbox.dbx. Then I clicked on the option to "Use the Web service to find the appropriate program." This took me to a website labeled "Microsoft Windows XP File Associations" where there was an offer to buy Microsoft Visual Fox Pro which would supposedly read the dbx file. I don't plan to buy the program at this point.
Thanks again.
