Urgent!!!!!

Post by Lyle Bradford »

I am getting a ton of email titled remove. It is something about a steel magazine and some are telling me they want to order it and all the others are sayin remove. Is this a virus or are the people getting the email address wrong?

I guess I'm booked on that same gig too. I ran my Norton Anti-Virus twice, but nothing showed up. All messages seem to be referencing the new Pedal Steel Mag, and the respondants are sending "remove".

To summarize:

1: not terrry's fault.
2: NOTHING anyone can do.
Screaming for someone to FIX IT is pointless. It's a virus loop.
3: It is not strictly a Forum thing. Nor limited to Terry's address book. Or yours for that matter.
4: Chill. Outrage is bad for your blood pressure.

I am not sure that this is a Virus. I would be curious to see how Terry sent the emails out to people for the magazine. The payload (emails being sent to everyone) is very Virus-esque, but because one person replies "REMOVE" and it gets sent to everyone makes me a little hesitant to call it a virus.

I would need more information from the webmaster or from Terry Wendt to make a final conclusion.

Either way, just delete the emails. It is not passing any attachments with viruses in them. They are totally harmless emails.

I am getting alot of those too. I called and talked to Terry last night and its a software problem with the way he sent the emails. He either made a mistake or there is a glitch. If you respond to it the email is sent to everyone on the list.
Best way to get ahold of them is to put thier email address in the mail to field.
Were all just compounding the problem by emailing via reply

If, as this more and more "appears" to be, a criminal attack on his company... rather than a virus run amuk, then the FBI computer division should be called and advised of this. Terry's decision, and not a small one.
It is not just interstate, but international.

I wish him the best of luck and hope the magazine continues for a long time.
