Cannot Connect to the Internet

I would go ahead and remove Internet Exployer and reinstall it before reinstalling windows.

I'm not familiar with ME, but other versions of Windows allow you to reinstall the OS without losing your other programs and files. It basically just does a refresh, which will replace any corrupt system files. Check with someone who knows for sure before trying this.

Wayne, I cannot uninstall IE, it came as part of ME. I can uninstall the update. I did that with no luck.
Jim, I have reinstalled ME again but not a clean install, no luck. thanks Winston

A week has gone by apparently with no success on your part. Perhaps it's time to hire the local pimply faced 19 year old kid from a computer store to fix the problem.

On problems, they usually come in and in 15 minutes, with fingers flying at nearly light speed, they fix it. When you ask what the problem was, they give a terse two sentence answer with words no one has ever heard of, not expecting you to understand, but going thru the motions anyway.

Just think of it as a tool to get the job done, like a 5/32 ignition wrench. You may not have it in your toolbox and may never need it again. So rent it, fix the problem and move on to more important things.
