Fender PA 100 Head

Post by Tony Orth »

Anyone know if this will work for steel?
If so, what speaker will sound best for steel with this tube amp?

Tony,----I use a Fender 100 PA and love it !!I use a Zoom G2 as a preamp, and have a 212 cab with Jenson C12's.The 100 PA has the same circuitry as a Twin except for the 4 channel input.I also run my acoustic/electric through it and sounds good as well. Can't beat that Fender tube sound !!-Jim

Jim,

Do you know if both speaker jacks need to have a speaker plugged in to keep from burning up the amp. In other words, would one 4 ohm speaker into one of the jacks work okay?

Tony,-I had the same question when I got mine.According to my amp tech, you can plug a 4 ohm into either one of the 8 ohm jacks. The amp will see a 4 ohm load. So,either use (2) 8 ohm speakers in both jacks,or just (1) 4 ohm speaker in one.I have my 2-12's(8 ohms) wired in parallel to give me a 4 ohm load, and I just use either jack.-Jim

Thanks Jim,

That's what I hoped to hear.
