Volume Pedal String

Post by Chuck Hall »

Hope this goes here. I need to replace the string on my VP. As I've never done this before, any hints will be appreciated. Also, what kind of string do I need for the replacement?

Thanks in advance for any help. Image

Thanks Tony but I really can't see the string (in the picture) all that well. Must be my old tired eyes. Image

Some folks use the Green fish Fly~Line! Works very well, at least on the types of pedals that hook onto the Pedal~Bar; such as Emmons, Franklin and Derby.

Here is a link to "how to string a Goodrich pedal" from Scottys Music. The Ball pedal is different, but maybe this will help.
I have used braided nylon twine for the string. Don't use the "twisted. Use "braided".

Geo, L's Products has the volume pedal cord. It should be available from some of the vendors from the "Links" listing above, or direct at http://www.georgelsstore.com/steelacc.html

I've used fish line "leader". You can buy that in different pound weights to suit your habits. If you're a real "stomper", I suggest the 20 pound gauge! Image

I had to replace the cord on my Goodrich pedal one time.
What I did was cut a length of braided cord off a venetion blind. It worked great and still is fine to this day.

CHUCK HERES WHAT I USE BUT YOU MAY LOSE YOUR LIFE IF YOU GET CAUGHT
JUST SLIP OVER TO YOUR BLINDS ON THE WINDOW
WHILE YOUR WIFE ISN,T LOOKING
PUSH THE LITTLE PLASTIC END UP CUT AS MUCH STRING AS YOU NEED THEN TIE THE END BACK ON
BUT NEXT TIME USE A DIFFERENT WINDOW
THIS STRING WORKS GREAT IF YOU DONT GET CAUGHT

I posted this once before, but here it is again:

Replace with braided nylon "mason's twine." Get more than you will ever need in a lifetime at Home Depot for about $5. (Only use the braided stuff, not the twisted.)
