ProFex 2
With the amount of ProFex 2's still being used, I wondered how many guys were using it with 1 amp or 2 amps, for the full stereo sound. I am using 2 amps ( Nash 400 + Nash 1000 ). The effects sound better using both amps, to me.
If you are using 1 amp, how are you achieving the full sound? Also, do you use the back "Pre Amp" input, or the front panel input. I've been using the front input, because, the back "PreAmp" input is much too muddy for me. That way, I can adjust the sound I want using the EQ in the amp.

John,
When I used the profex, I started with 2 amps (nashville 400's) and you are right, it definitely has more of a full sound.
Didn't quite like lugging 2 amps around, and some of the clubs (like Matty T's in Long Island, NY) were just too small to sit 2 amps on stage so I stopped that. The profex is cool enough to still get some great sounds using only 1 amp though. I also plugged in through the front....sounded better to me.
I have since done away with the profex and went back to using a couple of pedals.
I find it easier to deal with. But I do remember using the 2 amp set up !!

I use 2 amp,s all the time with my pro-fex-2. I use a N-ville 112 and a Bandit 112. I set them about 4 ft behind me and about 6 ft apart. I like the sound of these and i also go into front of both amp,s. Low channel on both. I use a Hilton volume pedal. God Bless and a Happy 4th to you"ll.==Jim-Peg Harper

Hi John, I use a trsansfex amp and it's the same effects I think as a Profex II. someone please correct me if I am wrong.
The transfex has a Tube Preamp built into it and I don't think the Profex II does, but anyway. The Transfex is a Stereo 2-12 amp and it allows me to always run in stereo. Si I always use the effects in stereo.
I use to drag around 2 amps ( 2 special 130's then 150's) and that got to be a drag as I got older. So I switched to the transfex. If you don't mind playing thru 2-12's you might think about switching to it.
I'm not a big fan of the stereo choruses but then again I haven't used a lot of them yet and I would be open to getting some presets stereo chorus sounds from folks here. But the stereo sound is very spacious with the ping pong delay and a little sweet verb.
It sounds as good as two amps seperated 4 to 6 ft. if you set it up right. Now that being said I also have an Alesis Quadraverb GT and I love the stereo chorus sounds out of it so I plug it into the poiwer amp in stereo in the back of the Trsamsfex when I'm wanting the smooth chorus or flange sound.
It (alesis) even sounds killer thru the effects loop then I cah utilize both it and the transfex's effects which creates a killer sound for guitar and steel.
Before Big Jim Murphy passed we use to work together in sweveral bands and I got him hooked on the digital reverb and chorus of the peavey and alesis. He bought an alesis but it was pretty hard for him to regulate and when I wasn't with him it gave him the red-a?? so he sold it and I sold him an old ART multi effex pedal. It had a wet dry mix slider on the front of it and that is the unit that he used until je ended up with another 1/2 rack MPX I think. Don't quote me on the last effects that he used because he moved down to Austin and I didn't get to pick with him in the last few years I'm so sad to say.
But I digress if you ever want to get a great stereo sound with Peavey effex and you don't want to carry around 2 amps give the Tube Transfex 2-12 a try.
One more note I seen a steel player in Nashville that used one and he used the 2-12's with to 15" satellite speakers and what a killer sound that way he could get that wide separation.
Well I sure rambled on a long time just to tell you about the Transfex LOL but I hope this helps.
