Question for Paul Franklin

Post by Jamie Lennon »

Hello Paul, dont know if you remember me we met at Gerrys uk steel guitar festival, you sat next to me in my moms car and heard a tape of me playing, a few ago now.

Anyway can I ask what make/model you use on stage, Thinking of getting a new rig for the steel

He uses a Mesa/Boogie studio preamp and a Mosvalve 500.

He also uses a Stereo Steel rig at times. Hopefully Paul will see this and let us know how he decides what he uses in different situations?

I think Paul has a relative in the business..

here he is a week or two back with an ALL WOOD "F" Guitar..

Paul played thru a rack system with a pair of MARRS cabs...He did mention that this particular Steel was not one that he plays OUT often..

That guitar looks like the one off long scale wood guitar that can be heard on Paul's Christmas album.

Aquiring "The Players" DVD is a good move. Both Paul and Brent are featured playing live throughout. Brent Mason's Hot Wired CD has to be one of the best guitar instrumental albums of all time IMHO.
[This message was edited by Ken Byng on 05 July 2005 at 06:35 PM.]

The (tubeworks) mosvalve 500 is a power amp, 2x250 watts in 4 ohm, solid state, but made to "imitate" tubes. But they don't make it anymore, but I guess you can find some for sale in the buy and sell section.

Plastic fingernails? Yup, I've heard him say he does use them. I've actually been guilty of doing the same.

Yep some of the best players use them. I'm not one of them but I sure wish I could play with them like Brent does :-)
