Try a Hafler P3000. Sweet Mosfet power. Good sounding amp.

You get a lot of bang for your buck with "Stewart" amps. Light weight also. think the 400w Stewart weighs 9 pounds.

My preference is for the old Crown DC300 and D150 due to their great sound but but they are kinda big and heavy for most folks. I have also used a Carver ZR500 - single rack space, not too heavy, 175 watts per side into 4 ohms, sweet and clear sound.
[This message was edited by Dave Grafe on 22 March 2005 at 06:28 PM.]

I like the Mesa Boogie 50/50 but it's pretty heavy. I put it in its own rack.

Of the power amps I have owned my favorite is the VHT 2-90 (90 watts a side) followed by the VHT 2-60 (60 a side), followed by the MossValve 500, followed by the Steward World 1.2.

You might want to check out Carvin. They have a new stereo tube power amp that is pretty reasonably priced.

For a tube power amp, I like the VHT 2/90/2. That think will not break up for anything, and has some cool voicing possibilities, so you can tune it to the room/stage you are playing on.

For a solid state amp, I like the Hafler P3000 Trans Nova, actually designed for use with near-field monitors, but MAN does it sound nice for the steel. Clean and rich harmnonically, and not too heavy. Runs hot though, so allow plenty of room for its heat fins should you use one.

I run these amps into Bogner cabinets with Celestion 80s. Very modern, smooth sound.
